The 28th Annual Congress of the German Society for Sterile Supply, DGSV, was held from 30 September to 2 October 2025 at Kongress Palais in Kassel. The event brought together CSSD professionals, medical device reprocessing specialists, healthcare institutions, and industry representatives.
I attended the congress as a guest. My aim was to gain direct insight into German operational experience, review emerging developments in AEMP and CSSD practice, and exchange knowledge with sterilization professionals and industry specialists.
The scientific programme included lectures, specialist discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions on the safe reprocessing of medical devices. Part of the programme also addressed the specific needs and challenges of outpatient healthcare settings.
One notable topic was the use of artificial intelligence in sterile processing. A session presented practical test experience with camera-based systems for recognizing and counting surgical instruments. The discussion showed how digitalization and AI are gradually becoming part of operational AEMP practice.
The specialist exhibition provided an opportunity to review equipment, sterilization packaging, consumables, and new solutions for traceability and process control. Conversations with exhibitors and professionals supported technical comparison and a better understanding of the German market.
Participation in the DGSV 2025 Congress was a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and direct insight into German scientific and operational approaches to sterilization and medical device reprocessing.
